Yara El Turk is a multidisciplinary visual and new media artist traversing disciplines of politics, communication, digital art, and intercultural negotiations. A crucial phase in her development as an artist was when several changes in Lebanon collided: the 2019 revolution, the COVID-19 pandemic, the shift to digital forms, and the Beirut port explosion (2020). Rooted in the political, socio-cultural realities of Lebanon, Yara’s work makes evocative connections between contemporary moving image, sharing research narratives through virtual exhibitions and the use of coding. Her practice considers the computer as a Meta-Medium, which unifies or transgresses any medium, such as sound, text, or image.
