VisArt: Contemporary Issues in the Arts

VisArt projects encourage and enhance appreciation of contemporary arts by stimulating dialogue and the exchange of ideas on contemporary issues, trends and problems in the arts. Exchanges provide opportunities for collaboration between American artists, critics, art historians and arts managers and their colleagues in Russia, Central Europe and Eurasia on seminars, workshops, performances, lectures and symposia.

Program participants from overseas visit the United States for short residencies and study visits. In addition, well-known U.S. artists such as Philip Glass, Shirin Neshat, Meredith Monk and Kimsooja offer workshops, performances and lectures in Russia, Central Europe and Eurasia. Seminars and workshops for arts professionals are offered to stimulate discussion on trends in the arts, art history, cultural policy and management issues.
