Elena Bychkovawas born in 1983 in the city of Taishet, in Siberia. In her own words, she enjoys “watching and seeing.” Elena holds a degree from the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) and has directed three short films: The Stranger (2007), Surprise (2008) and Express-Course of Buddhism (2009). Her works have won a number of awards, including two awards for Best Film at the VGIK International Film Festival (2008 and 2009), a special prize at the St. Anna Film Festival (2009), and an award for Best Cine-Novella at the PROvsglyad film festival (2010).
