ARTS LEADERSHIP FELLOWS

The Arts Leadership Fellows (ALF) program provides a unique opportunity for talented, young arts managers and cultural journalists from Russia and Central Asia to visit the US, where they meet with colleagues and observe how US arts organizations operate on a day-to-day basis. In addition, they participate in an intense program of site visits to museums, galleries, and performing arts events to acquaint them with the nation’s wide variety of arts institutions and current art trends. This advanced training program has been tailored to enable arts managers and journalists with a limited knowledge of English to participate. CEC ArtsLink initiated the ALF program in 2008, replacing the earlier Jubilee Fellowship Program.

The ALF fellows travel to the US in small groups of four to ten individuals; each study visit focuses on a particular discipline. Specializations are chosen in consultation with regional experts to best address local needs and interests (i.e. cultural journalism, festival management, contemporary art, etc.). Two groups travel to the US each year. 

Participants are chosen through a closed competition conducted by CEC ArtsLink in consultation with a selection committee of Russian and Central Asian specialists.

Funding for the ALF program has been provided by the Kettering Family Foundation, the Prokhorov Foundation, and the Trust for Mutual Understanding.
