KATALIN JUHASZ, HUNGARY

Link Vostok, Minneapolis, MN

To support Rechargeable, a community based dance project. Juhasz will create a dance performance with participation of amateur elderly and professional dancers. She will also lead a series of workshops and activities addressing a variety of issues for the local aging population including family structure, health care and intergenerational relationships.

ELYOR NEMATOV, KYRGYZSTAN

University of California, San Diego, CA

To support a documentary photo project with UCSD about the disappearing Native American Kumeyaay people in the San Diego area. In collaboration with Dr. Justin de Leon of UCSD, Nematov will conduct a multimedia workshop on photography, videography, sound recording and editing for indigenous people from several different states. Through the workshop Nematov and De Leon will encourage participants to share their stories, cultural heritage, and the challenges they face in contemporary American society.

AMIR NIZAR ZUABII, PALESTINE

Remote Theater Project & GOH Productions, New York, NY

To support The Remote Theater: Palestine which brings director Amir Nizar Zuabii and six Palestinian actors to New York City in early 2018 for a residency during which they will create an original "devised" play in English to present at La MaMa Theatre. The experience of creating an art piece outside of their familiar environment and interacting with New York arts communities will inform meaningful, dynamic dialogue with Americans about what it means to be Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim in 2017.
